Councillor Mrs Valerie Baldwin

I moved to Dorset over 25 years ago to help look after my father and took up a position as Deputy Warden at 'Fullers' in Broadwindsor where my children attended the local school.

Four years later I moved to my present house and my children completed their education at Beaminster School and local colleges.

In 1991 I was employed by Dorset Police Authority as a Traffic Warden in Bridport, West Bay and Beaminster where I learned about local issues regarding traffic management, policing and crime prevention in the area.

Before my recent retirement I managed a small business in the town where customers and residents frequently made me aware of local problems which were a cause of concern to themselves and their neighbours.

When the election of local Councillors was advertised I realised this was an opportunity to try and give something back to my community.

My role on Beaminster Town Council has been to try to improve our local public transport as well as identifying various crime prevention issues which I then raise via the local Crime Prevention Panel in an effor to keep our town safe and reasonably trouble free.
